protect our planet series

One hand has the power to help bring positive change to the world.

John Meyer is contributing one brush stroke at a time.

What will happen to Planet Earth and the extraordinary places under threat from Climate Change if we don’t take collective action NOW?

This series highlights the need to save our unique BLUEPLANET for the generations to come and for all the diversity of life that shares it with us.

JOHN MEYER

John Meyer is painting 18 large canvases (5 x 7 feet) of some of the most extraordinary places on Planet Earth under threat from Climate Change.

The paintings will show these places in all their glory before they are forever changed by human induced climate change, through drought, deforestation, melting ice shelves, retreating glaciers, increased greenhouse gasses, forest fires, bleaching coral reefs and the human footprint.

In the last four years Meyer has held several solo exhibitions at the Everard Read Gallery in Johannesburg and Cape Town, The Lookout Waterfront in Cape Town, Bonhams in London, Bonhams in Edinburgh, Saatchi Gallery in London, Melbourne Museum in Australia and Auckland’s Eden Park in New Zealand.

“I have been privileged to be able to travel to the four corners of the earth, immersing myself in the natural wonders.”

“History and art are my great passions. It is important to preserve places like Venice for the generations to come.”

“I have gathered research from the most remote places, including the South Sea Islands. It inspires me to paint what I have seen.”

“The Norwegian Fjords are breathtaking. I like to be silent in my thoughts when I am absorbing all the details of my surroundings.”

“I have been everywhere that I have painted except space. I would give anything to go there”

“I work alone, searching out the details, building my understanding of the complete work.”

“Hiking in the Amazon rain forest was a dream, painting it became a reality”.
